East Ayrshire (Siorrachd Inbhir Àir an Ear around Gaelic) is one of 32 unitary council regions inside Scotland. It borders onto North Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire, South Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. Using South Ayrshire & a mainland areas of Northerly Ayrshire, it forms a traditional county of Ayrshire.
